    I am so loving my relationship with cheese, and whilst I’ve been making it for around 13 years, my intrigue and passion was reignited last October when we visited Kerry in Ireland and met a Dutch man who makes Gouda cheese in his converted spare bedroom using milk from his Jersey cows that he keeps down the lane.

    You would be forgiven for thinking that this post is all about bread, well there is some coming up, but we have been thinking a lot about all the little choices we make every day and how they have an impact on not just our health and finances, but also the environment.

  • As the clocks fall forward, the evenings draw in and we chop wood in preparation for cosy nights in front of the fire, I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s wondering what the next couple of months will bring and how we can hold on to traditions as we continue to navigate current challenges.

    This week has seen a few firsts for me, the most unusual has been the amount of phone calls that I’ve received asking me if I am selling my chickens!

  • I often get asked whether we eat our own chickens, especially when they stop laying eggs, and when I explain that the chickens can continue to lay regularly for over 6 years and the average age of the chicken in the butchers shop is 6 week, people soon guess that an old bird won’t be that succulent.
